I have been passionate about yoga, dance and the arts my whole life, and believe in the transformative potential of these mediums for personal and social change. Growing up, I was a member of a pre-professional ballet company, and loved time in the studio for the cultivation of presence & movement. In 2008 I received my ‘Registered yoga Teacher’ (RYT 200 – Yoga Alliance) from an Ashram in Boulder Colorado, yet my passion for movement, breath and music led me to Vinyasa Flow Yoga. With my business partner Eleanor Steane, we've opened 2 vinyasa yoga studios in Belfast’s Queen’s Quarter and the Cathedral Quarter – founded on an ethos of welcome, inclusivity and transformation.
I have been working in peace & conflict studies, capacity building and education for the past 18 years throughout Ireland, Europe and the United States. I have recently completed a PhD at Queen’s University in Multicultural Education and I always strive to bring the best of my education, skills and passion forward each time I step on the mat.
As a yoga teacher, I seek to empower students to be strong, flexible and easy in their bodies, peaceful and clear in their minds, and playful in spirit.

In my twenties I lived in Australia, where my exploration and newfound love of yoga came into being with a beautiful little yoga book by Jessie Chapman. After some much needed guidance from amazingly gifted teachers, my journey commenced and since 2004 I’ve studied with many schools of yoga including the YTTC, Birthlight, Core Strength Vinyasa Yoga and Yogabuddies and the Active Birth Centre. Now a mum of two, I have a deep passion for empowering and educating women and couples who are preparing for the birthing process and parenthood.
I am a registered Senior Yoga Teacher and the Course Director of Flow Academy's 200hr Teacher Training Program. Having been a student of Shiva Rea since 2010, my students can expect a Prana Flow® inspired practice that is deep, challenging, laughter-infused and non-competitive. My classes will leave you feeling invigorated, open and grounded with a deeper connection to all the things that form YOU!
I took my first class over 20 years ago when I was an Art student, yoga was my saving grace and got me through a very stressful final year. When I went to Teacher Training, I never anticipated being a teacher, it was more about delving deeper into the discipline of yoga. However, with a lot of encouragement I found myself in front of classes of students. Since then I’ve travelled far and wide, undertaking trainings to further my knowledge not only in yoga, but other traditions that resonate with me. Since a sabbatical to Peru in 2012, I have been studying and sharing aspects of Andean Cosmovision, a tradition handed down from the Inkas, which promotes alignment with a universal living energy.
If I was to describe my teaching it would be about simmering in poses, entwining sequences, finding symmetry in the sacred geometry of the body and journeying in meditations. I seek to awaken self inquiry in my students, for them to consciously explore and challenge themselves.
I was first introduced to yoga by my wife. The main attraction initially was the physical element and the opportunity to get an active workout, but it was the meditative aspects that intrigued me and kept me coming back. Discovering the simple union of breath and movement that harmonised my nervous system was a new sensation for me. I’d feel grounded, calm and balanced after every practice. I wanted to feel like this all the time.
In my class you can expect a strong, balanced Vinyasa Flow with clear alignment cues that will allow you to be intuitive and go inward. You will leave feeling enlivened and soothed.

I was drawn to the practice of yoga when I began my studies as a holistic therapist. After several years of practice I grew to understand that it was my life’s purpose to study and teach yoga and in 2012 I undertook my first teacher training. Since then my yoga journey has evolved with the nurturing support of teachers and students alike, and in 2015 I collaborated with my colleague Sarah Lynch on an ongoing practice called Go Slow Yoga, a method fusing asana, pranayama, Thai yoga massage and meditation. I love the therapeutic and meditative nature of Yin yoga and the contrast of Yang, rhythmic Vinyasa.
In my classes you can expect Yin and Yang teachings that are influenced strongly by the intimate relationship with the breath. Through mindful, engaged movement and breath it is my belief that we become intricately connected to the present moment - the ultimate fulfilment of our practice
Pregnancy, Mum & Baby Teacher
I first stepped onto a yoga mat in 2007 looking for a bit of fitness and a way to de-stress. Now, I love yoga because it keeps me living in the present. We practice in the now, literally going with the flow; and the more we practice this on our mats, the easier it is to do in the outside world. Yoga brings us back to our breath, ourselves, our own enoughness. There is a playfulness that we bring to our practice which allows us to achieve more than we thought possible.
My practice and my teaching are constantly evolving and I am so proud to have been a part of the Flow Academy (my second 200hr TT). My understanding and embodiment of Vinyasa Flow has grown abundantly and I am passionate about sharing this. My first TT had an emphasis on Hatha, Pregnancy, and Post-Natal Yoga and I am honoured to be a part of the Flow Family team, teaching Pregnancy Yoga and Mum and Baby Yoga.
I started practising yoga at University. I loved the physical benefits of the strengthening and stretching, but also the calmness during and after each class. I quickly became passionate about yoga and after a few years decided that I would embark on a teacher training programme. I completed my training in Hatha Yoga in 2013 with Santosha Yoga Studio, Lisburn. Whilst training for my certificate in Hatha Yoga I began attending Vinyasa Flow classes and workshops and found that I became more drawn to this style of yoga. I enjoy the fluidity of the breath-lead movements.
Having completed my teacher training I feel as though I am only the beginning of my yoga journey and that there is so much more to learn and experience. I am forever learning and developing each time I step onto my mat.
Following an early interest in gymnastics and dance, I began practicing Vinyasa Flow yoga as a teenager and quickly connected with its potential for creative movement. I attended my first yoga workshop at the time of an emotional crossroad, which awakened my own realisation of the mind-body connection. My fascination with this interplay was enhanced through academic study of Psychology and becoming a qualified Pharmacist. I trained in Vinyasa Flow yoga in London and continue to study various styles of yoga as well as holistic healthcare modalities.
As a teacher I playfully challenge my students physically through creative sequencing which emphasises alignment. I encourage students to find their edge but also to recognise that the heart of yoga is not how far you can go in a pose, or how flexible you are, but it is the attention to the breath, the mind and the self.
I was initially drawn to Vinyasa flow yoga because of the dynamic form and movement required. A commitment to practice led me further to find not only a stronger physical body, but clarity and focus of the mind. Yoga provides a tool for the practitioner to carve out the best version of themselves and it is this idea in essence which led me on to teach.
With a background in classical ballet, my classes integrate a focus on safety, alignment and quality of movement, in a down-to-earth approach that is accessible for all.
Children's Yoga Teacher
Originally from Dublin and now living in Belfast, I began practicing yoga about 15 years ago to compliment the ballet training I was doing at the time. I found it a wonderful outlet for stress and of huge benefit for my strength and flexibility.
Growing up with my mother running a nursery school from our home, it was very natural for me to train as a childcare professional and work in the childcare industry.
With two young children of my own, I then trained as a children's yoga teacher with the British School of Yoga. I find it of huge benefit for my children in regards to their health and confidence, and am passionate about teaching children in a fun and accessible way. It is the perfect way to create life long habits of being body and mind aware.
I discovered Yoga in 2014 through attending an Ashtanga class. With no prior insight into what it would entail, a sense of curiosity drew me in. I was seeking something – a new experience, or change. This was the beginning of my regular yoga practice, a system for both mind and body that resonated with me from my first class. The focus it brought to my mind and the physical wellbeing it developed in my body was something I wished to embody further. When I moved to Belfast I discovered Vinyasa yoga, and the intelligent sequencing and fluidity of this style appealed to me. This serendipitously led to becoming more involved with my home studio and under the guidance of my teachers, I was actively encouraged towards my own training. In Feb 2016 I certified in India in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
In my class you will find a balanced, breath-led practice, with alignment cues and fluid sequencing to help you to build strength and mobility in your body, and focus in your mind.

I came to yoga in my mid-twenties through meditation practices, seeking healing for my body and a way to be at peace with myself. Initially learning classical postures from a book at home, I gained the courage to attend a Hatha yoga class, and since then have practiced a wide variety of styles. When I came to practice at Flow I remember falling for the fluidity and potency of the Vinyasa practice, and was honoured to then train with the Flow Academy.
I encourage practitioners to move in creative ways that explore and expand what they can do, finding a sense of power and freedom. I am passionate about guiding students into their own deeply meditative experience, leaving them feeling refreshed, connected and inspired.
Ashtanga Yoga Teacher
I have been practicing yoga since 1996. Right away the gift of this practice was a general sense of wellbeing and balance, but it also awakened a deeper connection to myself - I felt like I had arrived 'home' at last. My motivation to start yoga teacher training initially was a desire to impart this wonderful gift to my two children and change direction in my career where I felt stuck and unfulfilled. In 2009 I graduated from YTTC Lisburn (200hrs) and then did a Yoga for Kids course with Yogabuddies. I was soon teaching increasing numbers of students from my own home, where Yoga Tree Studio was born. Later I completed a Level 2 Advanced Teacher Training course with Jivani Yoga RYS 300. Attending an Ashtanga workshop in 2010 proved a real turning point and a true revelation. As my daily Mysore style self practice began to unfold and my commitment deepened, so developed my understanding and appreciation for the Ashtanga Yoga System. I am still continuously learning and discovering much more about myself through this moving meditation.
Over the years I have attended numerous classes, workshops and training courses around the world and in various different styles of Yoga such as Hatha, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, and Anusara. I am deeply grateful to all my teachers and students who accompany and guide me on my yoga path. My intention is to share my knowledge and passion of Ashtanga Yoga with others so they can develop a greater self awareness and discover the transformative power of this traditional method for themselves.
‘Yoga? Is that the thing where all the slightly mellow and flexible folk stretch and take naps? That's not for me!’ Exactly my sentiment 6 years ago as I decided reluctantly to give this yoga a try to cure nagging injuries accumulated from almost 12 years of pursuit of physical strength. The effect on my physical and mental health was profound: I slept better, moved better, felt stronger and less anxious and this positivity began to trickle to just about every other facet of my life. Cue years of self study, regular practice and eventually an amazing teacher training journey at Flow Academy.
As someone who has worked in the fitness industry for 10 years, I feel I am at an advantageous position to bring yoga to those who, like me, would never give it a try but perhaps need it the most. Expect a strong, fun practice, suitable for all, inspired by my studies and infused with references to my other passions in life.
I love the freedom of Vinyasa Flow Yoga – it allows you to be creative, to explore and evolve through your practice. The most important aspect for me is that it is a breath-centred practice - everything begins, flows and ends with the breath, in yoga and in life.
I had the privilege of being part of the first Vinyasa Flow Teacher Training (200 hour) at Flow Studio Academy, which I completed in 2017. I also completed an intensive Strala Yoga training with Tara Stiles in April 2016, Foundational Yin Yoga training with Josh Summers in November 2016 and I have been a qualified Mat Pilates Instructor since 2010. You can expect all of these influences in my classes – there will be a focus on alignment, core strength and breath. I will encourage you to slow down, move with ease and explore what is possible in your own unique body.
From Hollywood to Holywood, my yoga journey has taken me halfway around the world and back again. Upon moving from my native Dublin to New York in the late 90’s, my practice began under Gina Norman of Ohm Yoga. In the nearly two decades since, my journey found me in Los Angeles, intensifying my practice under some of the city’s most accomplished teachers. I completed my 200 hour teacher training at Yogaworks Santa Monica, have undertaken specialty training in Yin Yoga and Thai Yoga Massage at Kaia Yoga in Connecticut, and have participated in workshops and retreats from Northern California to Costa Rica.
I am is also a licensed esthetician, combining reiki, aromatherapy and massage into my practice, sharing the gifts of yoga and mindfulness is my passion. My husband and I recently relocated from Santa Monica, California, to where we live now in Holywood, County Down.
I first discovered yoga in the mid 90s, as a way to maintain flexibility after doing gymnastics and kickboxing when I was younger. I practiced at home for many years using Rodney Yee and Eric Schiffman videos. Being guided over the years by fantastic teachers fuelled my passion to share the remarkable benefits of yoga with others. I am a firm believer in the capacity of yoga to heal on both a physical and emotional level.
I like to bring an element of playfulness into my classes and hope everyone will enjoy yoga as much as I do! I like to break poses down so everyone can achieve some element of the pose. My intention is to make yoga accessible for everyone.
I began practicing yoga in my home in 2009, guided by instructional videos on the internet. A year later I started attending classes taught by Jean Murray in Lurgan who noticed a passion in me for yoga. A lumbar disc injury I sustained practicing martial arts helped guide me down the path towards teaching. Owing my recovery to yoga, I continued to deepen my yoga practice. In the years since, yoga has not only facilitated physical healing in my body, but also mental healing in my mind. I am thankful to have been a student in the second Flow Academy teacher training and share these teachings with others.
The practice I offer will gently guide you towards a place of connection and presence; through focused pranayama, mindful movement and stillness.
My yoga journey began in 2005 when my sister dragged me to a class so that she wouldn’t be alone. I had no interest in any form of physical activity and expected to simply go through the motions, but I found that from the beautifully dynamic flows to the quiet stillness of Savasana I was fully absorbed, it was exactly what I needed in my life! I wanted that feeling of euphoria to last forever, It was the start of a passion that would change the course of my life and consume all aspects of it.
My passion for yoga drives me to offer a class that will leave you feeling energised and refreshed! I am fascinated with how the breath has the ability to both calm, and energise when needed. I will encourage you to find the comfort in a posture, play around and find the sweet spot!
I first came to practice yoga in my 30s while living on the beautiful island of Jersey. Coming from a legal and mental health nursing background, I was intrigued to find out for myself how yoga could transform people’s lives. Little did I know that what started out as a quest for an extra skill in my work toolbox would become the start of my own personal journey.
The natural world has offered me my greatest teachings. I feel strongly that to align with nature is to connect with life and awaken self-inquiry. My wish is to share my love and joy of movement and stillness in yoga, with willing kindness, just as my teachers have done for me. The rhythm of my class may vary, just like the seasons, but always we move with light-heartedness and fun as our breath guides us together to a place of relaxation and stillness.
I was a yoga dabbler in the late nineties/early noughties. The dabble became a deeper immersion over time, leading to my first teacher training in 2007 at the Sivananda Ashram in Quebec. The impact was powerful. A month of intense practice stripped me down to who I am at my core, away from distraction and expectation.
I recently completed my second teacher training in Vinyasa Flow. This beautiful practice creates space for self-inquiry while also drawing you into an elevating collective experience. I like to test my limits, and then move past them, and my classes reflect this. One person's challenge may be headstand and another's Savasana, so I will guide you to YOUR edge, and invite you to explore what happens there. I have become increasingly interested in functional alignment and the importance of how we organise our bodies. I often hear people say "I'm not flexible enough to do yoga" or "I'm not strong enough to do that posture". And I would say, "stability is the safe space between flexibility and strength. Can you be stable"? Sure you can....
I first discovered yoga when I was a student. Like so many before me, what started as curiosity into the physical benefits of strength and flexibility soon led to my falling in love with the fluid, creative and breath-led sequences of Vinyasa Flow. My passion grew and eventually I wanted to share my practice with others, leading me to complete my teacher training (200 hr RYT). As my practice continues to evolve I find incredible self-awareness, and enjoy the freedom it offers to explore movement and possibility in my body. Beyond this the dynamic meditative quality of vinyasa provides a little quiet, calm and clarity in the busyness of daily life.

As a physiotherapist for over 30 years, understanding, analysing and promoting healthy movement is my daily work. Since 2001 I have taught as a Body Control Pilates teacher, working as a supervising teacher for the Body Control Association. I have loved the addition of yoga in my life in the past 10 years. It has revolutionised my thoughts on the importance of a strong, balanced mind and the relationship between the breath and movement. The fluid movements which arise from a relaxed, effective breath never cease to amaze me, and I find it inspiring to witness my students use their breath to help in transitions and create their personal flow.
I am committed to continuing my journey to teaching healthy physical movements with a balanced mind – particularly focusing on keeping the body functioning well as it ages.
